Brazenness is gratis, open source, cantankerous-platform, easy-to-utilize audio software for multi-track recording and editing. Audacity can record live sound through a microphone or mixer, or digitize recordings from other media. With some sound cards, and on whatever recent version of Windows, Brazenness can also capture streaming audio.
